WHO ARE WE?
SoundCheck is Chapman's first contemporary and jazz a cappella group. The group was started in the spring of 2007 by three freshmen who wanted a way to provide a non-classical musical outlet for CU students.
Since then, the group has exploded on the University's campus, performing a wide variety of school functions in and around Orange, California.
SoundCheck recently competed for the first time in the ICCA Western Region Quarterfinals at the Claremont Colleges where they placed Second Runner Up out of seven teams. In addition, our very own Ryan Young won the award for Best Arrangement!
OUR HISTORY
In 2006, Freshmen Ryan Young and AJ Lepore began independently building interest in creating an a cappella group. After approaching each other and realizing they had similar goals, they decided to team up and conquer the a cappella world together. After bringing on fellow freshman Ariel May they forged a team the likes of which had never been seen. After throwing out some names, Ryan Young accidentally said "SoundCheck" instead of "Soundtrack," and they loved it. SoundCheck was finally formed by the end of 2006 and auditions were held in December of that year. The group has gone on to become one of Chapman's top student run performing groups and is continuing to grow each year.
